BLVCKSHRINE

More / Less

A Photographic Series

My work is an investigation of scale, but not of grandiosity. I was trained to see the monumental weight held within the miniature and the forgotten. This series directly engages with the theme of 'More / Less' by exploring how perspective and framing can elevate a small object into a relic and shrink a vast landscape into an intimate memory.

In these photographs, a tiny souvenir, bathed in light, feels more vast and iconic than the city it represents. A single mushroom, isolated from its environment, becomes a monolith. Conversely, a massive mountain range is diminished to a mere backdrop, its power transferred entirely to a single pinprick of light signifying a home.

Ultimately, I use my camera to create tension. A Ferris wheel, too large for the frame, generates friction against the objects beside it and the desaturated sky. The tautness of its cables mirrors the tension in the composition itself. By giving power to the small and finding the inherent conflict in the massive, this work suggests that the true scale of our world is ultimately defined by perspective, power, and the stories we choose to see.
